 We are happy to extend an invitation to all Kalani High School Class of 1969 members to attend a very special event with our classmates from McKinley and Roosevelt Classes of 1969.

 This celebration is limited to 190 attendees, so please make your reservations as soon as possible, but no later than the June 15, 2026 deadline.  All reservations will be prioritized and confirmed by the mail date of your reservation.

 The Yin & Yan design for our event symbolizes the “Circle of Life” from our lifetime of experiences and achievements during the past 75 years.  Together we will celebrate Harmony, Interdependence, and Renewal with old friends, fellow ’69 Classmates, and our`ohana as we remember and appreciate all of special times of our lives.

The Joint Schools Karaoke Committee (Kaimuki, Kalani, McKinley, and Roosevelt) for the Class of '69 continues with its annual Karaoke Night event.  This year it will help us celebrate our 75th birthdays with our fellow classmates, friends, and `ohana.

It's still only $30 for dinner, bottle water, snacks, music, karaoke, fun and friends, so mark your calendars.

Also, the reunion committees for Kalani, McKinley, and Roosevelt Class of '69 will be presenting a special get together, "Celebrating 75 Years of Harmony, Interdependence, and Renewal" on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Kalauoa at Pearl (Pearl Country Club).  More to come as the planning committee works out the details.  It promises to give you a different concept of reunion events of the past and provide a unique and memorable experience for us all.

The annual joint high school karaoke night is set for Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Once again, the reunion committees from Kaimuki, Kalani, McKinley, and Roosevelt High Schools have come together to present this year's event.

What a great deal and another great opportunity to once again meet classmates and even friends from our sister schools.

Dinner, drinks (bottled water), and karaoke.

Don't want to sing?  Just sit back, talk stories, and enjoy the music and fun.

Class of '69 - 55th Reunion

To all Kalani Class of '69'ers, here is your sign-up sheet for our upcoming activities to help celebrate our 55th year reunion.  All events will be held at the Oahu Country Club.

We'll start off with a golf outing and our special 19th Hole with pupus, karaoke, and some advance time to talk stories and reminisce on Friday.  On Saturday come and join your classmates for our reunion banquet featuring Oahu Country Club's Prime Rib Buffet dinner.

Note:

Cost for golf is now $100 and includes golf, prizes, and the 19th Hole.  Cost for attending the 19th Hole event (non-golfers) is now $40 (Limited seating so call your classmate buddies and sign up early)

For now we can say that they're looking at a nostalgic of $69 for the banquet evening at the Oahu Country Club (including Prime Rib!)

Tentative plans for golf on the day before call for group of 4 foursomes with a 19th Hole event at the Clubhouse following that will be open to the none golfers also.

 

2024 marks the 55th year since the Kalani Class of '69 bid aloha to the memory-filled site where the tradewinds from the valley whispered softly through the valley ...

The Class of '69 Reunion Committee is planning our own 55th celebration activities for October (watch for the Save-the Days information) and another joint-school Karaoke event next month.

Yes, it's back!  After three previous karaoke events, including the break due to Covid-19 concerns, the reunion committees from Kalani, Kaimuki, McKinley and Roosevelt High Schools - Class of 1969 have joined together to present our fourth karaoke event.

The flexible format is designed as a Group Karaoke and Dancing event, to allow solo and team karaoke singers as well as dancers to have fun and enjoy the food, music, and cameraderie with friends, family, and former classmates.  

All Class of '69 grads are eligible to participate along with their significant others.

The $30 cost covers pupus, bento dinner, dessert and bottled water, along with our karaoke and dance music.

Don't procrastinate!  Get together with classmates, spouses or significant others and contact Joanne to sign up.  See above flyer for contact information.

It's 2023 and us 69'ers are celebrating the completion of twelve cycles of the Year of the Rabbit (72 years!)

Support Alicia Kaipolani Barros' Healing Journey

On September 2020 Kaipo was diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer and has since been receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatment and faces upcoming surgery.

Needless to say, her medical costs are high and any help in this area will surely help her on her healing journey.

So what's your style?

KARAOKE NIGHT POSTPONED

Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 virus, the joint school committee has decided to postpone the upcoming Karaoke Night that was scheduled for Saturday, April 25th.  They are working with the St. Louis Alumni Clubhouse to hold it some time later this year.

Take steps to protect yourself (these are listed in all preventive literature and should become part of our daily practice).

Clean you hands often

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
• If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.  Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
• Avoid touching your eyes, noes, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community.  This is especially for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions, like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.  Please consult with your health care provider about additional steps you may be able to take to protect yourself.

Our Joint Schools' 4th Annual Karaoke Night is here again!

 

Like last year, it's being held at the Saint Louis Alumni Clubhouse where there is lots of room to dance, karaoke with classmates, and spend time with classmates.

 

It is opened to all '69 classmates from Kaimuki, Kalani, McKinley, and Roosevelt High Schools, their families, and their friends.

 

The "box office" is now open.  Grab other classmates, spouses, and friends, and contact Joanne to attend.  Just $25 for heavy pupus, water, music, and karaoke.  What a deal!

 

Don't want to sing individually?  Join the group.  Group karaoke is a great way to enjoy the "oldies" that made our schools years so memorable.

Don't want to dance?  You don't have to.  Enjoy the music, watch others "trip the light fantastic," take advantage of the pupus, or just talk stories with old friends.

 

The Class of '69 will be 69 years old this year.  That alone is an awesome accomplishment and definitely something to celebrate.  (Actually, every year from now on is worth some type of celebration!)

The Class of '69 Reunion Committee held their "debriefing" session on Friday, October 25th at the Cinnamon's restaurant in the Ilikai to review all of the activities from their 50th year anniversary.  

      (No one could remember the name of the former coffee shop/restaurant at the ground floor Cinnamon site)

 

Much of the discussion just continued where they left off at the reunion event with them recalling events, persons, and experiences from high school days and the years leading up to our current "senior" status.  It's amazing how everyone remembers different things from the same event.  This is what makes getting together and talking stories so interesting.

 

Watch for upcoming "mini" events for our Class of '69.  It can be a simple way of getting together without the fuss of planning a large event.  If anyone has ideas, please share with us ...                       and come join the committee.
