These are not Las Vegas Whales ... they are just Falcons from Kalani specializing in FUN.

2013 Vegas 62nd Birthday Bash

Okay, most of us are or will be 62 this year.  That means that we could start collecting Social Security (with penalty) and that also means it is time for another Las Vegas getaway.  (It has been two years since our 60th birthday bash and it's time for another!)

Since we had a blast in 2011 and made some great new friends, we are staying with the winning combination of fellow '69 grads from Roosevelt and McKinley.  This time some of the Bulldogs from Kaimuki might be officially joining us.

SAVE THE DATES!

November 13 to 18, 2013
Wednesday to Monday
Las Vegas Downtown

Besides gambling, eating, and drinking, the getaway agenda includes:

Ice Breaker Breakfast will all the schools,
Slot Tournament,
A Unique Bowling Tournament like only 69'er can,
A Hawaii Six-O Search Warrant Scavenger Hunt,
An Awards/Buffet Banquet,
Hospitality Suite (Where the Action Is),
Karaoke Challenge,
Shows, and naturally

Watch for more information ... where the tradewinds
from the ocean, whisper softly through the valley.

Sleeping on the run ...

While everyone gets ready for the Sam's Town shuttles, experienced Las Vegas travelers like Eric Anderson, knows how to sleep on the run ... or while standing.  Cool!

California Chandelier

20 lights total:  12 large base lights with 8 small "candle" lights in the middle.

Camp buses

The mixture of new friends from three schools leaving their fun city felt like school kids leaving Camp Erdman's summer camp.  Very nostalgic.  Remember how it felt to be walking to your respective buses early in the morning?

Guitar Solo?

Although it may appear that Gordon Choy is performing a guitar solo to his captivated classmates, he is actually "stitching" a photo of the 60-plus classmates who participated at the McKinley/Kalani sponsored bowling event held at Sam's Town.

With a Kaimuki visitor ...

At Thursday night's "School Colors" dinner held at the newly opened Island Sushi restaurant in the Plaza Hotel.
Bobby Imoto, Lance Toyofuku (Kaimuki 69), Gordon Choy, and Jerry Wojcik.
We used Jerry's shirt as a pattern for our blog background.
With about 100 people, we rocked Island Sushi and figuratively, "Blew our minds, from 69!"

Rod Stewart Show in Las Vegas

Discount Tickets:  We are fortunate to have a Roosevelt graduate with connections to get discounted tickets to the Rod Stewart Show.  This will probably be for Sunday, Nov. 13.  1st Mezzanine - $104, 2nd Mezzanine - $74.

If you are planning on joining us in Las Vegas and will be there on Sunday evening, you might want to take advantage of these special rates for a great show.

This offer is for those who have already selected and paid for one of the travel packages or for those who will be signing up and submitting the registration form with deposit ($100) for pkg. A or B or full payment ($82) for pkg. C. by Friday, July 15th.

Please send an email notifying us that your payment is on the way.  We can only order tickets for those who have paid or notified us that the payment is on the way.  Once the tickets are ordered and a contract drawn up, there will be no refunds.

P.S.  Some of you have not yet decided whether you will be traveling with us, but we didn't want to miss anyone, so this email is going out to anyone who expressed an interest in going to LV.

Hope to hear from you soon!  Mahalo.  Joanne

Memories ...

... pressed between the pages of your mind.

Las Vegas Bash Deadline Extended

Attention--Last Call!  Response/Deposit deadline extended until Friday, July 15thAfter this date, any unused blocked seats & rooms will be given to other schools.

Please view the attached tentative itinerary and decide whether you want to be a part of this fun-filled, activity packed 60th birthday celebration.  Join your classmates, as well as friends from Roosevelt and McKinley, as we get together for a 5-night, 6-day birthday celebration.

We need to hear from everyone planning on attending this trip.  Please print and complete the registration form and submit with your choice of package (either A, B, or C) and deposit (required for pkgs. A & B) or full payment (for pkg. C) by Friday, July 15th.
Also note on the tentative itinerary, we have an opportunity to see the Rod Stewart show
on Sunday, November 13th at great discounted prices (1st mezzanine - $104, 2nd mezzanine - $74).  Tickets must be prepaid by Friday, July 15th. (Please send a separate check for the show and indicate in memo:  RS show)

To help you decide and hopefully, to clarify which package you should take:

Package A:  To/From Honolulu:  For those who want the full package$799 based on double occupancy (single occupancy $75 additional fee).  For single travelers, once we have confirmed responses, we will do our best to pair you with someone to avoid the additional fee).  This package includes the Vacations Hawaii 6 days, 5 nights package with roundtrip airfare, 5 nights at the California Hotel (including meal coupons), airport/hotel transportation, shuttles (fare & tips) to all planned activities and optional shows, shopping, group dinner, etc. plus nightly pupu parties.  This is for those who want to get there and have us worry about the details (land transportation, fares, tips, etc.)

Package B:  Hotel & Activities only: For those who have own travel arrangements (mileage, driving cross country, etc.).  $254 based on double occupancy (single occupancy $75 additional fee).  Again, for single travelers, we will try to pair you with someone (Hawaii resident) to avoid the additional fee and get the kamaaina package).
This package includes 5 nights at the California Hotel, including meal coupons and the planned activity fees, shuttle fares/tips, etc. described in package A.
Tentatively, please make reservations on your own at the California Hotel, Main
Street, or Fremont, etc.
Please submit your response form with $100 deposit.  On a first come, first served basis (based on date response form is received), subject to availability, we will offer you the Vacations Hawaii kamaaina hotel/meal coupon package & activities ($254).  You can then cancel other hotel arrangements you have made.  You must submit the response form and $100 deposit to be considered for any available kamaaina packages.

Package C:  Get-together activities only:  For those with own travel/lodging arrangements.  Since this is a Class of '69 60th birthday celebration, we strongly recommend that you submit your response form with $82 and join us in the planned activities.  This will allow you to participate in all planned activities as described in pkg. A, with shuttle fares/tips covered, as well as join us for nightly pupu parties before you return to your own accommodations.

Come join the fun!  Don't be left out.  Send your form & payment TODAY!

Deadline for response form/deposit and Rod Stewart show is July 15th

Mahalo.  Joanne

Note:  The Sign-up form still shows the original deadline of June 30th.  Remember, new deadline is July 15th.

Some things never go away ...

One thing that will never fade away is the spirit of a Kalani Falcon.  It is still there ... you might need to give it a little nudge once in a while, but it's still there.
Wake it up and make it a point to attend one of the alumni celebrations this year.  It is not too late!
