Remember that slim, athletic guy who posed for the famous Endless Summer poster carrying his surfboard on his head?

Take a good look.  He's still there, only about 40 years older and about 50 pounds heavier.  

And still looking for that perfect wave.  Just like us ...

BTW, this has nothing to do with the upcoming fundraiser dance.  The dance's name has been chanced to "The Summer's End" dance.

Did You Know ...

Did You Know ... that back in 1969 Kalani's two

bowling teams had outstanding seasons as the boys

finished first in their league and the girls, second.

Dwight Nohara, Steven Suto, and Don Walters led

the boys' team to the league championship.

The girls, who finished second to Roosevelt, boasted

Seniors Marlene Andrade, Mae Kaneshiro, 

Naomi Yabuno, and Cheryl Yoshioka.

We sure could use them at our Las Vegas trip

in November for McKinley's Bowling Challenge!

Remember this?

On Saturday, October 5, 1968, Kalani's head

songleader, Alicia Kaipolani Barros, was chosen

to be youth princess for the Statewide

Aloha Week Festivities.

Another Kalani girl, Jackie Lien, was Aloha Week

princess in 1965.  Kaipo is Kalani's second princess.

years of service was over 100 years.

Back in the old days things were different.

We should have stuck to the old-style 

gas pumps.  They could only go as

high as 99.9 cents a gallon.

That would have kept the price down!

Tricycle Races?

Remember Seniors Day, when we were afforded the opportunity

to show the underclassmen the rewards of three years of study ...

Bicycle races!!  You can be sure that Deanna won this heat.

If Oahu Country Club will allow it, we might design a tricycle

course through the parking lots.  That sounds like fun!

No Adults Allowed Unless Accompanied By Teen

     Liberty House stores will reverse common practice during their up-coming Youth Week.  at a trio of special night opening, IDs will be checked and only those under 20 will be admitted.  Exceptions will be made for those adults and pre-teens who are lucky enough to be escorted by a teenager.
     LH bills the week-long celebration as a "salute to the reaching generation, the turned-on young people who seek to change this creaking globe into a human, humane world."
