The Calientes performing at our 60th Birthday Bash in 2011

The Calientes will present their final performance at the "Summer's End" music and dance event that will be held at the Japanese Cultural Center Grand Ballroom on
Saturday, August 31, 2013.
The legendary band who's music echoed through the 60's and 70's will be backed by Soul Pilot and joined by two other awesome oldies groups, Wasabi and White Light.

It will be a night to enjoy, reminisce, and have fun,
so don't procrastinate.
Grab your friends and make plans to join the celebration.
It will truly be an epic event that you will always remember.

The "Summer's End" is a fund raiser presented
by the Class of '69 from
Kalani, McKinley, and Roosevelt High Schools
to benefit their alma maters.

 "SUMMER'S END"

 Aloha Everyone,

Just finished a long joint committee meeting with our fellow '69 alumni from McKinley and Roosevelt.  Lots of laughs, discussion, food, and fun.  We spent a lot of time working on the upcoming dance fund raiser.

I guess with all of us getting older, wiser, more experienced, and a lot more responsible, we all decided that using The Endless Summer with a similar design as the movie, might be stretching some copyright parameters.  So, the event's name has been changed to "Summer's End."

The dance highlights the last performance by the Calientes and, with it being held late in August, it fittingly reflects the "ending of summer."  Well, something like that.

Everything else stays the same.  Same dance/music format, same groups opening and playing with the Calientes, same pupu dinner, prizes, etc.  Just the name has been changed to protect the innocent.

A new and improved flyer with the Summer's End design and information is forthcoming and will be posted as soon as we get it.  In the meantime, don't procrastinate ...

How times have changed ...

Remember that slim, athletic guy who posed for the famous Endless Summer poster carrying his surfboard on his head?
Take a good look.  He's still there, only about 40 years older and about 50 pounds heavier.

And still looking for that perfect wave.  Just like us ...

BTW, this has nothing to do with the upcoming fundraiser dance.  The dance's name has been chanced to "The Summer's End" dance.
